Dr. Raj Mohan B, Dept. of Chemical Engg. received the AISTDF – SERB sanctioned project titled “Synthesis of β-cyclodextrin nickel ferrite nanoparticles for the removal of pharmaceutical compounds from aqueous systems” under the ASEAN – India R&D collaborative research scheme worth 35.17 Lakhs by DST(SERB). The project is between NITK Surathkal (Indian Side) and two other ASEAN Universities viz. (i) Asian Institute of Technology Bangkok, Thailand and (ii) Ho Chi Minh University of Technology, Viet Nam. Dr. Raj Mohan Balakrishnan is the Principal Investigator of the project and Prof. C. Visvanathan (AIT Bangkok) and Dr. Bui Xuan Thanh (HCMC, Viet Nam) are Co-Investigators from ASEAN side. The project aims to develop nanoparticles to remove hazardous emerging pollutants from pharmaceutical wastes / effluents in the context of waste water treatment. The project facilitates regular mobility of experts between the three nations to share their expertise and research outcomes among the students and research group.
